Need to know more about BSSM? What makes the magik happen?!? Too shy to ask us at a show??? Read on and learn a little bit about us...
Playing the role of frontman Anthony Kiedis, Chris Bruton!
Chris has been singing on stage since the age of 7 and picked up the guitar when he was 17. He has been involved in the Rochester music scene for nearly 15 years playing and singing in One Time at Band Camp and Press Start before forming BSSM.
Playing the role of bassist Flea, Kris Switzer!
Kris has been actively involved in music for most of his adult life, playing in national touring acts (Out of Line), as well as local Rochester bands (Bangarang, Dani California).
Kris has many passions that aren't obvious from his hammering on the 4 (and sometimes 5) string! Kris enjoys sunset catamaran cruises, lumberjack competitions, igloo architecture and design, judging Santa Claus impersonation contests, Irish line dancing, hot dog eating contests, women who don't shave their armpits, maple syrup harvesting, crocheting infant hats, restringing tennis rackets, creating bird nest molds, moderating NBA v WNBA debates, studying train schedules, abstract cultural pygmy interpretive dance, making custom ponchos for elderly Canadians, surfboard modeling, attending submarine races, juggling chainsaws (while on stilts dressed as a Laker girl), mariachi lyrical study, and Irish name calling!
Music aside, despite his battle with narcolepsy, Kris is also an accomplished international solo synchronized swimmer (ask him to show you pictures of his trophy case!), boasts about how he can fit 8.25 Oreo cookies in his mouth at once (not double stuff), and loves to ride his unicycle while whistling show tunes. When not relaxing on his inflatable hammock, Kris loves to read historic novels from self-help gurus, rolls vintage coins, and studies botony growth.
Playing the roles of Hillel Slovak, Josh Klinghoffer, Dave Navarro AND John Frusciante.. meet Dan Staversky!
Dan first picked up the guitar at 12 years old. Teaching himself the first couple years, he would play along with his mother and older brother on guitar and piano, and learned chords by studying Beatles and U2 songbooks. Getting serious at 15, he took lessons from a local guitar teacher and played in the high school jazz band. In high school, he discovered bands like Rush, Dream Theater, Genesis, U2 and Iron Maiden. He enrolled at SUNY Fredonia and studied Theatrical Sound Design, played in a few bands, and discovered more guitar influences like Pat Matheny, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews and Alan Holdsworth. Dan is a true amalgamation of all styles of music from Prog to funk to jazz to acoustic. In addition to Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Dan also plays with The Waiting Room (Genesis tribute), Wide Awake (U2 tribute) and Stavo (prog metal). Dan plays Ernie Ball Music Man and Fender Stratocaster guitars and Mesa Boogie amps.
Playing the role of Chad Smith, Rob Toscano!
Rob has been playing drums since the age of 11, longer if you consider the tinkertoy cans drumset he'd make when younger! When introduced to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Who, and his favorite and biggest influence, Rush, Rob was immediately enthralled with any and all drumming! In addition to playing in a Rush tribute in college, Rob has played with local Rochester bands for 20+ years, including Wide Awake (U2 tribute), Bonfire (AC/DC Tribute), Download, The Thunder Avenue Band (Bruce Springsteen Tribute), Haywire, Press Start, One Time at Band Camp, and Better Days,.
